The Tutors

Will our tutor be qualified?
When you book a tutor with Time to Learn Tutoring you have a choice of a qualified teacher or a professionally trained tutor:

Qualified Teacher - Will have a Bachelor of Education or Teaching, Diploma of Education or a Masters of Education or an equivalent of one of these.

Professionally Trained Tutor - Will have tertiary qualifications or will be nearing qualifications in a relevant field and has tutoring experience.

What if I decide I don't want to continue with a particular tutor?
Ensure that you give the tutor 24 hours notice prior to a lesson and let us know. When you book a tutor with Time to Learn Tutoring we will attempt to find you a replacement tutor where the need arises.

I require a particular type of tutor. Can you meet these needs?
Time to Learn Tutoring specialises in matching the right tutor to the student.  As an example we can provide you with a literacy specialist or a teacher who specialises in VCE Maths Methods. Your special requirements can be detailed when you 'Book a Tutor'.

Will my tutor be of good character?
Time to Learn Tutoring meets all legal obligations with regard to the protection of children under 18 years of age.

Booking Your Tutor and Fees

How much does it cost?
Lesson fees are paid directly to the tutor and depend on whether you require a qualified teacher or a professionally trained tutor and the duration of your lesson.

How much does it cost to be tutored for one hour?

Can you tell me some costs associated with varying lesson times for individual students?

How do I book a tutor?

Payment

What are my options for paying the tutor?
It is best that you discuss a suitable method for payment with your tutor, e.g payment at conclusion of lesson.

Programs and Lessons

Will the relevant curriculum be followed?
Our tutors have the required knowledge and understanding of the relevant curriculum which ensures that the content of lessons is appropriate.

What happens if the student is not benefiting from the program being applied?
While all our tutors are skilled in providing beneficial programs and catering for the individual learning needs of students, for a number of reasons, it is possible that student progress will be unsatisfactory.  When you 'Book a Tutor' with Time to Learn Tutoring we will attempt to replace your tutor where the need arises and you can cancel anytime.

Is there any additional work expected, such as homework?
The tutor will decide this. Generally it is good practice to follow up on concepts via homework. This may improve the study habits of the student and assist them to take ownership of their learning.

Can I have tutoring twice a week?
Yes. This should be requested when you book your tutor.

Can lessons be arranged at the tutor's house?
Yes. This should be requested when you book your tutor.

When do the lessons take place?
Our tutoring services are available throughout the day as well as on weekends. We understand that students have busy daily schedules, which require flexibility for scheduling lesson times.

What if I want to increase my lessons per week?
This can be arranged by contacting Time to Learn Tutoring with your request.

What if I want my friend's child to be tutored with my child?
This would be subject to group tutoring fees and should be requested when you 'Book a Tutor'.

I want tutoring for Maths and English. Can I have both?
Yes, this should be requested when you book your tutor.

Cancellations

How much notice will I need to give in order to not be charged a fee for a lesson?
24 hours of notice is required to be provided directly to the tutor. However, the tutor will decide if they require a late cancellation fee.

Will there be any associated fees if I don't want to continue?
There are no cancellation fees.

What if the tutor departs?
While you continue to use our services Time to Learn Tutoring will attempt to replace your tutor where the need arises. A tutor can be replaced within 14 days of notification (usually 5-10 days).
